You remember Saints Row? The open world game that everyone was talking about then promptly forgot about because of that ‘other’ open world game? Well Volition hasn’t, and the studio is keen to remind people by confirming details of Saints Row IV’s DLC plans, starting with a familiar name.
Enter the Dominatrix, originally planned as a full DLC pack for Saints Row: The Third, has now been confirmed as the first of two DLC packs headed our way for Saints Row IV later this month. Interestingly, the description of the pack goes to great lengths to try and differ the original concept from what would eventually become the plot line to the fourth instalment, namely the whole virtual world scenario:
The canceled Saints Row the Third expansion sees new life as the first DLC mission pack for Saints Row IV. In this alternate take on the Zin invasion storyline, Zinyak and the legions of his alien empire trap the Saints in a virtual world run by a mad AI program known as the Dominatrix. In order to thwart her nefarious schemes and escape to the real world, the Saints will have to counter her army of gimps and sex-workers, shut down her demented simulation, and make unlikely allies along the way. Includes behind-the-scenes commentary and the return of some fan-favourite characters.
So instead of taking on the evil beings that throws you into an alternate world, you’re taking on an evil being that throws you into an alternate world … with a dominatrix. Fool me once, shame on me.
October 23rd is the UK/PAL release date, with a second Christmas themed set due a few months later. So, anyone still playing Saints Row?
