Bad news for South Park fans: it looks like South Park: The Stick of Truth won’t make it before the end of this year after all.
Ubisoft made the announcement today that South Park: The Stick of Truth has been pushed back yet again, this time to March 4, 2014. The reason for this is that Ubisoft initially thought it would be an easy job getting the game finished after it acquired the rights to it from THQ, but it turned out the game was not quite as finished as Ubisoft had estimated.
“Within three weeks after acquiring the game, we sadly realized we had to turn this thing upside down if we hoped to deliver the experience everybody wanted,” explained Ubisoft North America president Laurent Detoc. “It’s been such a major overhaul to get to the point where we are that we couldn’t let it go, even if that meant missing December.”
South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker shared the sentiment: “Getting the game up to the crappy standards of the show has been a real challenge and we’re excited to say it’s taken way longer than we thought it would,”.
Well it’s clear. The game will not be released before the development is round, which means The Stick of Truth is not coming out in the next two months. The following trailer gives us a peek at what’s in store for us by the time the game releases next year.
